SM MALLS IN SANGANDAAN, VALENZUELA BRING NEARLY 10,000 JOB OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH KALAYAAN JOB FAIRS
In celebration of the 128th Philippine Independence Day, SM Center Sangandaan and SM City Valenzuela brought the spirit of freedom closer to thousands of Filipinos by opening doors to nearly 10,000 local and overseas employment opportunities through their back-to-back Kalayaan Job Fairs held in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The two-day employment initiative gathered a combined 81 participating companies and offered a total of 9,947 job vacancies across various industries, reinforcing SM Supermalls’ commitment to empowering communities by making quality career opportunities more accessible.
The series kicked off on June 11 at SM City Valenzuela, where 31 participating companies offered 2,190 local and overseas job openings. The job fair attracted 1,130 jobseekers, with an impressive 385 applicants hired on the spot. The momentum continued on June 12 at SM Center Sangandaan, which welcomed 50 participating employers offering a total of 7,757 job vacancies. The Independence Day job fair featured opportunities in retail, business process outsourcing, manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, food service, hospitality, and other growing sectors, providing jobseekers with a wide range of career paths.
More than just a job matching event, the Kalayaan Job Fair provided a one-stop employment hub where applicants could conveniently process essential documentary requirements with government agencies such as the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Social Security System (SSS), PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG Fund, DOLE, and Public Employment Service Office (PESO), helping simplify the journey from application to employment..jpg)
Jobseekers also gained access to career enhancement and skills development opportunities through partner agencies including the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), JobStreet, and other industry partners.
The successful staging of the Kalayaan Job Fairs at SM Center Sangandaan and SM City Valenzuela forms part of the nationwide Araw ng Kalayaan Job Fair program of SM Supermalls and DOLE, one of the country’s largest coordinated employment initiatives in celebration of Independence Day..jpg)
The partnership between SM and DOLE continues to create meaningful impact nationwide. During the Labor Day Job Fairs held on May 1, more than 17,000 jobseekers participated in simultaneous events across 15 SM malls, resulting in over 1,000 hired-on-the-spot applicants. From January to May 2026, SM and DOLE conducted 66 job fairs nationwide, serving more than 57,000 jobseekers and generating over 6,000 hired-on-the-spot placements.
